Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I changed from Jaunty to Karmic.

When I select Synaptic from the menu, it is not appearing on the
display.

In ~/.xsession-errors I find:
kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/sbin/synaptic
kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu
QProcess: Destroyed while process is still running.
No protocol specified
(synaptic:7205): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

If I execute "xhost +" on a console then synaptic starts up from the
menu.
