Public bug reported:
My system doesn't play any sound anymore. I had to reinstall my system, because
before it hung itself up after I gave 'suspend' under the logout/shutdown
options (I got black screen with Ubuntu logo after choosing starting Ubuntu,
Windows XP still worked). Before that it worked fine. I reinstalled by making
the linux, swap area and linux data area 'free space again'. Apparently It did
not delete all, because there are still 'old' home directories. I did not dare
to format the free space (under XP), because I was afraid to lose the grub and
then not able to access even Windows (is that true?). It seems that more 'old'
files and directories are there, because some things do not install (it seems
protection rights). Also I cannot login as su. It seems that the pw is not
accepted anymore in an x-term.
Best option seems to me to reinstall again, but first format all linux
partitions. Question is if Windows will start up afterdoing this in Windows.
Other option is to restore the current environment. But how?
