I have the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10, 32-bit, clean install, with current 27.12.2009 upgrades. To reproduce:
1. System -> Power Management -> "When laptop-lid closed:" [Blank Screen] 2. Close lid. 3. Open lid 4. Screen blank, sometimes with mouse cursor, unresponsive to mouse as well as keyboard, ctrl+alt+backspace, ctrl+alt+F1... Nothing happens 5. Hard reboot! Im have a Dell Latitude D505.
