the 1.2.0 is pretty clearly a typo -- it's a typo long-unfixed in the debian packaging info stored in upstream's repository.
no changes have been made to upstream svn (other than some stuff to fix the build process on windows) since the version that's currently in debian unstable (1.0.2+svn16259-2) Please also see http://bugs.debian.org/537710 for discussion about the so-called "newer API".
