Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio
I'm trying to use a Plantronics Voyager Pro bluetooth headset for audio input and output. Connecting the headset works fine, audio out is okay, but the microphone produces a distorted, overdriven sound (verified in Sound Recorder and Skype). None of the volume sliders in Sound Preferences seems to have any effect on the microphone level at all. Sometimes, however, the microphone suddenly works and produces a crystal clear sound -- I have not been able to find out why it suddenly works. I've tried killing and restarting the pulseaudio daemon, or pairing the headset with another device (my mobile phone), and then pairing it with the computer again, or using both GNOME Sound Preferences and/or Pulseaudio's pavucontrol to set up the microphone. Sometimes it suddenly works, but as I said, I don't know when or why. This is under Ubuntu 9.10 upgraded from 9.04, pulseaudio 0.9.19 (all packages standard). I also tried upgrading to pulseaudio 0.9.21 and ALSA 1.0.21 from PPA, and had exactly the same behaviour with that version. I have since downgraded back to 0.9.19 again. The computer is a Thinkpad T61 with Intel HDA sound chip. Sorry for not including automated version information, but I'm writing this on another computer. Can run apport later if needed. ** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Bluetooth mic distorted/overdriven, volume sliders have no effect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/499455 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
