Hey, just an FYI, ASUS has released an updated firmware for the GSA-
T50L. You will need windows to update the firmware however. I haven't
tested it in wine.

The current firmware revision is the SR09.

It seems to fix timeouts upon insertion of disks. My dvd drive finally
works properly in linux! :)

As a reference, hdparm -i /dev/sr0 gives this:
