To be honest, I'm very hesitant with this, as long as we don't have a dedicated Ubuntu maintainer. R is a huge project and needs corresponding attention. I know that Dirk does an excellent job with R maintenance in Debian, but due to our different release cycles maintenance needs to be coordinated particularly for Ubuntu as well.
