I am likewise having the same problem, Ubuntu 9.10. Initially, using the default settings, I got the same message that seba described at #6 above. After changing to client version QQ2008, I found a different response, it just times out and says,
<username>@qq.com disconnected Server closed the connection The linked Pidgin bug seems to be closed too. Should I open a new Pidgin bug? Or is this a Ubuntu 9.10 issue?
