I don't know how to change the status, but the xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.9 on Ubuntu Karmic is still unclaimed on my Dell Studio 15 when I check 'lshw -C display'.
Performance is still a little laggy, I'm using compiz but a lot of the animations lag pretty easily, and VMware always gives me an error about my video card being incompatible.
