On my laptop (Acer Aspire 5535) the shutdown or reboot say's: hal main process (683) terminated with status 1 avahi-deamon main process (688) terminated with status 255 modem-manager: caught signal 15, shutting down init: Disconnected from system bus
After this nothing happens and I must switch the laptop hardware off.
