Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kino
After installing kino in karmic with apt-get install kino, sound (and normal replay) was not working in kino with the error message that /dev/dsp was not available. Checking the device revealed that the rights were limited to root:audio rw-rw---. After adding the desktop user to the audio group with vigr and vigr -s and logging in anew, it works ok. Two possible solutions: Adding the current user to group audio during kino install in kino.postinst. Defining a desktop group which has rights on the device and make the desktop users members of that group. ** Affects: kino (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- No sound due to no groupmembership audio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498146 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
