Frank,
Apologies for the late reply, I've only just spotted your Email. I confirm
Audacity is working fine for me now with the latest Karmic release. Two
things have improved things for me on my Lenovo S10e Netbook. I've installed
the Gnome ALSA Mixer, this has given full control over the internal and
external mics and output. I've also spotted a self induced error in that
when I frist installed audacity I went through the preferences checked the
software feed through radio button. I have confirmed tonight that this
causes two issues. When enabling the mic monitor Audacity crashed and blows
away, with no crash report. Secondly audio tracks don't play, a few samples
are output and the player stops. This is repeatable. With the Software feed
through not checked, every thing is fine.

My conclusion is that 450758 was a newby finger trouble issue with not
understanding what software feedthrough does.

Apologies & Best regards

Dave
