Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. I am afraid there is a misunderstanding here -- you are considering anything that starts with 'evolution' as part of the mail client. This is not correct. If you do not need, or want, the Evolution *Mail* client, you should select, on synaptic, *just* the 'evolution' package. Then the Evolution Mail client, and all of its dependent packages, will be removed.
Evolution-data-server and its associated libraries are needed by other Gnome applications -- as you noted. They are *NOT* exclusive of the Evolution Mail client; in fact, they are not part of the Mail client. Even if you were to never have selected Evolution, e-d-s (and associated libraries) would still be installed as pre-requisite dependencies for other packages. As such, closing this bug INVALID. Please reopen if you do not agree with my decision. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Ubuntu flawed, Evolution un-install destroys ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496034 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
