1] I'm using Xubuntu 8.04 LTS right now, that's correct. 2] I can confirm AA linked as S37apparmor in rcS.d and NTP as S23ntp in rc2.d, although I thought smaller numbers indicate a sooner start up.
3] Ich double checked the NTP configuration under /etc/ntp.conf. Do you want to see it at pastebin? Are there any other configuration files? 4] When executing "sysv-rc-conf" NTP is started in RL 2,3,4,5 and AA in NONE of these but S. Nevertheless aa-status returns "apparmor module is loaded". 5] When restarting NTP manually (sudo /etc/init.d/ntp restart) it's listed correctly afterwards. 6] ntpd's PID is 27344 (right now!) which is much higher than all the others (late start time?) 7] Rebooting the system doesn't help at all.
