Although this didn't work for me, since I'm using the Jolicoud kernel, not the Ubuntu one. I had to revert back to 2.6.28 from 2.6.31, which solved the issue. I'm using 2.6.32 right now, which I built to be a real-time kernel, but I'm still having this issue (though it's gotten better since 2.6.31).
