hi guys, I'm don't understand so much, but I wanna help how I can since this bug affects me too. I'm using the same video card, and it only cracks on resolution 1280x1024 or bigger. I'm using 1280 x 960 and it looks fine, but compiz is really slow. I'm attaching my x.org.conf. Interesting is: it was automatically generated by Gusty Gibbon (7.10). On Jaunty (9.04), It wasn't generated automatically, but when I paste the gusty xorg.conf, it works fine even on 1400x1050 resolution. So we have both problems: 1 - the black desktop on karmic; 2 - no more automatic configuration of xorg.
