Hi Pedro Thanks for getting back to me and for your offer of help. I got rhythmbox to work last night by installing the Gstreamer extra plugin (I think that is what finally did it, I tried many things). I was trying to rip songs from a CD as mp3 files. Regards Mark Kurtz
