Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I was working on a document in Writer and tried to open a PPT as a
separate task. The opening of the PPT hung (a separate issue). But
because a single process appears to be shared between multiple instances
of any number of Open Office products Writer hung too. The only
solution was to kill the soffice process, taking down both the PPT and
Writer instances.

While none of the related processes should ever hang or crash the tight
coupling, in this case, cost me some lost work in Writer as it had not
auto saved (nor had I save) for some amount of time before I opened the
PPT. I do understand the desire for memory and/or startup time savings.
However, this coupling can cause issues like in this case. Most
operating systems cache shared library reads (at least the code
section), saving memory and startup time.
