My personally reproducable case: visiting pingtest.net hangs firefox up every time.
Turning off java fixes it (although the site isn't then usable) I tried visiting a simple java app: http://yamaza.com/java/calc.html and that temporarily hangs - a few more seconds after the "compiz fade to grey", it recovers.
