I suspect it is from the Menu applet/(Applications|Places|System)Nautilus and should be refiled under one of those.
I am getting the same error when attempting to open Places|Home. I can open Nautilus via: 1. Applications|File Browser 2. Atlt-F2: Nautilus None of the bookmarked folders will open via 'Places'. However, 'Places|Computer' works just fine. Google seems to be full of similar: <http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=Ubuntu+%2Bkarmic+%2B%22Could+not+open+location+%27file%3A%2F%2F%2Fhome%2F%22&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=be5ffa94030d2d34> but I've not had time to track down the cause. I can state that it is a user configuration issue; I do not have the problem on other user profiles on this machine. $ uname -r 2.6.31-15-generic $ apt-cache policy nautilus nautilus: Installed: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic-proposed/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic-updates/main Packages 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages psad is not installed on this machine, so this bug is definately filed against the wrong package. -- cant open places ? >>>Could not open location 'file:///home/lab/Videos' No application is registered as handling this file. hmm help plz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477596 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
