This is the "freeze bug" On boot, the computer reaches the login screen and allows you to enter your username and password. Then within 1-15 seconds after you see the desktop the machine freezes.
"freezes" by definition means the machine is completely 100% non- responsive. The mouse will not move. The keyboard will not respond.. After a hard shut down (IE: unplug the machine from the UPS) you can reach the login screen again after a reboot, at this point if you select fail-safe the machine runs as expected... but only in fail-safe move. KDE and X run fine. This bug is specific to Gnome Standard. I do suspect that it has something to do with the Intel 950 card and it's driver.. but that I am unsure of. -- Gnome Freezes -- Ubuntu 9.10 -- big time freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461163 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
