I can reproduce this bug. Any video imported into subtitleeditor via the menu "Video > Open" causes the program to crash with the following error:

This is an important bug when it comes to the subtitleeditor project. We are using subtitleeditor 0.30.0-1ubuntu1 when upstream has released 0.34.0. Please test the latest version and post results. If stable, put in PPA. After testing the new version should replace this old broken version in Lucid. -- subtitleeditor exits when loading a video.
