Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
Came home, resumed my laptop... and no wireless networks were found. I never had a problem with wireless on this laptop; in fact the laptop came pre-installed with Ubuntu when I bought it brand new. Rebooted thrice, still, it was not finding any wireless networks. The error message NM was providing was very helpful too: http://www.ubuntu-pics.de/bild/32330/screenshot_150_988hfT.png Tried to do some voodoo to get it working, but nothing helped: v...@vadi-laptop:~$ sudo iwconfig scan [sudo] password for vadi: scan No such device v...@vadi-laptop:~$ sudo iwlist scan lo Interface doesn't support scanning. eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wmaster0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Device or resource busy vboxnet0 Interface doesn't support scanning. v...@vadi-laptop:~$ sudo ifconfig wlan0 down v...@vadi-laptop:~$ sudo iwlist scan lo Interface doesn't support scanning. eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wmaster0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down vboxnet0 Interface doesn't support scanning. v...@vadi-laptop:~$ sudo ifconfig wlan0 up v...@vadi-laptop:~$ sudo iwlist scan lo Interface doesn't support scanning. eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wmaster0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Device or resource busy vboxnet0 Interface doesn't support scanning. v...@vadi-laptop:~$ ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory Date: Fri Nov 27 08:08:26 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release Candidate amd64 (20091020.3) IpRoute: 192.168.2.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.5 metric 2 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlan0 scope link metric 1000 default via 192.168.2.1 dev wlan0 proto static NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: network-manager 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-15.50-generic SourcePackage: network-manager Uname: Linux 2.6.31-15-generic x86_64 XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:2465): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:2465): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:2562): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (nautilus:2555): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed (gnome-panel:2554): Gdk-WARNING **: /build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.18.3/gdk/x11/gdkdrawable-x11.c:952 drawable is not a pixmap or window ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- Internet died out off the blue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489184 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
