> David Siegel This is definitely not a paper cut, as average users will never open a terminal, and therefore never use sudo.
That's where I don't agree. In Forum posts and Support sites etc, you find a lot of command-line commands, that you're advised to execute to install a certain package or just to execute something and post the output. No visual feedback is just confusing. I just don't see why its better to have no visual feedback. Also when entering the pw when you login to a shell is not visible (not only sudo), and this gave me some trouble recently: I had a problem with the graphic card driver and was in Textmode. Because of a problem with the driver or whatever, not every keystroke was accepted. I had to log in in text mode. for the username, I saw the characters, so i could retype a char if the keystroke wasn't accepted, but when entering the pw i had a real problem. So, its not only useful for newbies ** Summary changed: - Please enhance the sudo explanation message + Entering password in cmd line gives no visual feedback -- Entering password in cmd line gives no visual feedback https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
