I think there is some communication mismatch.

As far as I understand, Gimp will not be "removed" from Ubuntu, it will
just not be included in a default installation and not included on the
LiveCDs. Anybody with internet access can install it like any other
package that is not immediately included in the default installation.

Maybe this can be clarified somewhere centrally so that users are not
concerned about this step, as it does not affect anybody who is using
Gimp right now!! Everybody can still continue using it as he/she likes!
