I have the same problem with my PCI card, the initrd.img doesn't include the it821x module. And I have test with the alternate CD, the installer doesn't contain the it821x module, and if you want to install a hd plug to an ITE 8211/8212, you must load the it821x module from an USB Drives at the beginning of the install.
