Binary package hint: adept
Trying to upgrade from Hardy to Karmic with adept_updater fails if
python-qt4 is not installed. It shows this unhelpful message:
Unable to get exclusive lock
This usually means that another package management application (like
apt-get or aptitude) [sic] already running. Please close that application
first.
Running sudo adept_updater gave a hint about python-qt4 which you don't
have with the GUI.
Once python-qt4 was installed it went OK (except for flashplugin-
nonfree).
