Hi Leann, Thanks for this, all done as suggested. Unfortunately however, the utility does not write anything to /var/crash and so I have been unable to gather any data.
It appears that as soon as the laptop lid is closed, all activity ceases immediately and so the contents of the crash are not written to the log. I've had a dig around to see if there's anything that I can change to do it and saw that "the LKCD utility is not designed to gather helpful information in the case of a hardware caused panic". I'm fairly sure that the crash is caused by the video because I can get around it with "nomodeset".
