Same problem here, also a T61, upgrade from 9.04 (where suspend worked
flawlessly) to 9.10.

The moonshine LED keeps blinking, but no further action. I have to force
a hard reset with the power button. This occurs with all conceivable
ways by which you could try to suspend: lid close, Fn-F4, GNOME Menu,
sudo pm-suspend.

I was able to boot into the old kernel 2.6.28-16 and suspend worked
flawlessly again. However, the touchpad no longer worked with that
kernel, so I was not really an option. That kernel has also since been
removed when I did another update.
