this is still an issue in karmic. looks like the best way to fix is to create a file /etc/pm/config.d/50wacom containing SUSPEND_MODULES="wacom" eg echo 'SUSPEND_MODULES="wacom"' | sudo tee /etc/pm/config.d/50wacom
