I have the same problem with openoffice.org 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1. I'm running Ubuntu Jaunty, 2.6.28-12-netbook-eeepc kernel on a Eee PC (1000H), which is a i386.
After I removed openoffice.org-gtk (which also removed openoffice.org- gnome) the problem disappeared. Reinstalling the gtk package restores the crash. To reproduce the problem: 1. Start OpenOffice.org. 2. Go to File -> New -> Templates and documents ... 3. On the left pane, select Templates (or "Modelos" in pt-PT). 4. Select any of the three text options in the middle pane. OOo crashes. All other actions appear to function as normal. For example, it is still possible to go to the Template Organizer on the window mentioned in item 3 above, and import a new template from a file. Under the OpenOffice.org "Paths" submenu in the OOo configuration, the following paths are included but absent: - /usr/share/templates/ooo/common - /usr/share/templates/ooo/pt - /usr/share/templates/ooo2/common - /usr/share/templates/ooo2/pt - /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.0/share/template/common However, the path that was selected does exist and user has write-permission for it: $HOME/.openoffice.org/3/user/template I'm appending a crash report log output from the Java JRE.
