Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

It appears that the wireless adapter button works since I can see a message
into the log:
----------
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ grep -i networkmanager /var/log/syslog | tail -1
Nov 12 18:02:08 ubuntu NetworkManager: <info> Wireless now enabled by radio
killswitch
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ grep -i networkmanager /var/log/syslog | tail -1
Nov 12 18:02:12 ubuntu NetworkManager: <info> Wireless now disabled by radio
killswitch
ubu...@ubuntu:~$
----------

However I have no visual feed-back into the desktop environment. The
gnome network applet doesn't show a list of available networks although
the M. Vista on the same notebook on the same location a few minutes ago
gave more than 15 networks available.

The network support is very important.
