I discovered this report while I was trying to run VKeyBD with Timidity and I couldn't get sound (config as per Bug #101949). I uninstalled the daemon and it worked but I think the problem was that a second instance from a previous attempt was interfering. I installed the daemon again and rebooted. Everything worked after that. I did notice some related syslog messages:
