I can confirm that after the brightness keys did not work on Samsung NC10 and Karmic. This was not the case in Jaunty. I can also confirm that upgrading the BIOS to the latest version resolves the issue. As some have concerns about upgrading the BIOS without having a winXP installation they can take a look at the how-to on Voira's blog (the same person who created the wonderful script that maps all Fn keys) at http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=248
