Public bug reported: ubuntu-server, like all servers should be able to be accessed remotely. Also servers are not always located in a place that is easily accessible. So like any server install, it should include all the tools needed to be able to configure and maintain it remotely. Using telnet is a bad idea because of inherent security risks. Therefore it makes sense to add openssh-server to the base install. This way once the server is up you can then continue to work with it with a remote login.
Fix: add openssh-server to base install of ubuntu-server Positives: you can work with ubuntu-server remotely like any other Unix server. Negatives: none known ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- ubuntu-server needs openssh-server installed by default https://launchpad.net/bugs/87240 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
