On latest feisty (64 bit), the auto-configured xorg.conf does NOT include a synaptics record on two laptops I own. The standard mouse driver also works with the touchpad, except for the scrolling using the rightmost part of the touchpad. On one of the laptops, there are two special buttons to scroll pages, and they also only work with the synaptics driver.
