Installed Karmic on a Acer Aspire 5315 over the weekend. System started shutting down randomly. Finally, I saw a CPU over temp warning in dmesg. This turned out to be the cause of the shutdowns. With Karmic installed, I never heard the fan kick on at all. Reverted to a backup of Jaunty and fans ran as expected.
