Public bug reported:

I created some UDF DVD+RW discs (always titled the same...LinuxUDF) back
when I used Dapper. I then installed Edgy and I was still able to add or
delete files from the disc without any trouble. Since I've installed
Feisty I've noticed that I can not copy and paste nor drag and drop
files onto the disc. Feisty does not seem to recognize these discs as
being in the UDF format. Feisty sees them only as Read-Only discs. I've
tried adding files from Terminal as root, but, again, Feisty sees them
as Read-Only. It appears to me that the ability to write to UDF discs
has been taken out of the 2.6.19 and 2.6.20 kernel or it could be
related to /dev/hdc being still listed under Group floppy.

In fstab the line:

/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

obviously shows udf listed.

I can revert back Edgy and these same discs, that Feisty will not allow
me to write to, work just fine.

If you have any suggestions or questions then please contact me or
respond to this post.

Thanks.
