** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

On a samsung laptop running karmic (upgraded from jaunty) I started
experiencing problems
with firefox today. firefox periodically stalls/blocks the system completely.
The time interval
  is around 1min.
+
+ UPDATE:
+ I am now certain that this is caused by the 'bindwood' plug in. As soon as I
+ disable the addon and restart firefox the problem is gone. I just realized
that the same
+ behaviour also occurs on my desktop system which also runs karmic

To investigate I'm running top, latencytop, iotop and strace on firefox. It
looks like
the problem is related to firefox writing to places.sql and also some failed
attempts
to accessing a socket (see strace log file)

Let me know if there is other useful info that I can provide to help
  figuring this out.
