Tony, Yes, linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-generic is much better here too on Ubuntu 9.10 (2.6.31-14-generic, 64-bit) on an HP dv7 notebook. I was surprised to see it work after opening the lid (suspend/resume from RAM)
