Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp
I upgraded from 9.04 on a macbook pro 4,1 and the sleep/resume cycle doesn't work anymore. I have the impression that it never properly goes to sleep: the screen goes dark, but not dark-dark. I've had a cursor flickering once when I try to resume. I resolved a similar issue on 9.04 by installing the nvidia 185 driver and removing the "sync to blank" in the nvidia X-configuration tool (several instances). Now with 9.10 the same 185 is still there. I've re- selected the 'restricted' repository for Karmic. The syslog doesn't give a clear indication that something went wrong. It notices "avahi-daemon: registering new address record" Nov 7 22:06:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:08:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:10:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:12:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:14:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:16:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:17:01 my-laptop CRON[9829]: (root) CMD ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly) Nov 7 22:18:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:20:01 my-laptop CRON[9916]: (my) CMD (ping -c1 -q serhom >/dev/null 2>&1 && (date >>$HOME/var/log/unison.log ; unison -batch >>$HOME/var/log/unison.log ; date >>$HOME/var/log/unison.log)) Nov 7 22:20:24 my-laptop wpa_supplicant[1127]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 22:20:33 my-laptop anacron[10001]: Anacron 2.3 started on 2009-11-07 Nov 7 22:20:33 my-laptop anacron[10001]: Normal exit (0 jobs run) Nov 7 22:20:34 my-laptop NetworkManager: <info> Sleeping...
