This happens on Ubuntu Karmic final release as well, I checked with two completely different computers (one a 4 yr old notebook, and one a up- to-date desktop machine), both running Karmic.
The machine running Jaunty is NOT affected by this bug, scanning works great there. Maybe a bit more into detail: Starting xsane works and it finds the scanner immediately. Starting the preview scan shows the scanned image in the according window. Then the part that moves the sensors (sorry don't know it's name, I'll call it sensor-array) moves back to the starting position, while the previewscan is viewed. When the sensor-array reaches the starting position xsane closes without further notice. Syslog and demonlog however still continue to document (obviously two entries every second minute): Nov 7 09:55:41 siemensnotebook wpa_supplicant[1592]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 09:55:46 siemensnotebook wpa_supplicant[1592]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 09:57:41 siemensnotebook wpa_supplicant[1592]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 09:57:46 siemensnotebook wpa_supplicant[1592]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 09:59:41 siemensnotebook wpa_supplicant[1592]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Nov 7 09:59:46 siemensnotebook wpa_supplicant[1592]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS When scanning without preview the same thing happens. The progressbar "Receiving RGB-Data" is filling, the sensor-array moves back to the start and xsane is gone again. No entries to any of the logs except those shown above are made. When starting from terminal some warnings are displayed. Directly after starting: WARNING: Unhandled message: interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable, path=/, member=Introspect After that as long as xsane is running: (xsane:5886): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated Nothing else when it crashes. -- xsane crashes after aquire preview https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
