I have this problem with a Gigabyte motherboard with an AMD 780G chipset. The southbridge is AMD SB700 and the onboard sound is Realtek ALC889A. I have the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic package installed but the problem remains. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help with this issue. Thank you.
