In regards to #18, The F-Spot developers do not agree with the "Don't automatically alter timestamps" solution. They are working to develop a solution where F-Spot will alter timestamps in a "correct" way.
This is the reason for my question, to see if this issue could at least be fixed within Ubuntu for the interim.
