Yep, on re-boot they all reset to MUTE.  Well... Not all like the first time I 
saw it but enough ere muted including MAIN that I had lost sound again.

I un-muted from the ALSA Mixer and I have sound again.  The new 9.10
Sound Preference shows no indication of muting.  That and I have no idea
why my configuration is getting re-muted on boots and/or other
activities but that's what's happening.

So long as I know that if I reboot or loose sound I can just turn it
back on again from another GUI this should suffice until the gods can
fix it.

If any of you are those gods and need additional system information I
will be more than happy to provide it.
