I am using feisty (amd64, NVidia 7600GS), the cube does not work for me too. Compiz is running smoothly (no problem for wobbling windows, fading, etc etc) but no cube at all, neither with keyboard shortcuts, mouse dragging, nor desktop swticher in the panel. Sometimes trying to change the setting of the cube in desktop-effects crashes compiz.
