I have now also tried the latest mainline kernel build from the link you provided, version 2.6.32-999-generic (installed the package linux-image-2.6.32-999-generic_2.6.32-999.200911031009_i386.deb) and the problem still remains the same (two of the buttons working, two of them not so) in the three of the four hotkey tests.
