Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
When I change the "Main Group" for my user under the "Advanced" tab of the "Users and Groups" GUI, everything appears to work. However, after selecting "Ok" and closing, nothing has changed, as I can confirm by reopening the "Users and Groups" GUI and seeing the group has changed back to the original. I reproduced this with two users and tried several times and tried logging out and back into sessions to see if that was needed for the change to take. No dice -- it seems reproduceably broken: it doesn't make the change advertised and doesn't warn you that it hasn't done it. The workaround was to use the commandline. The following did exactly what I wanted: $ sudo usermod -g newgroup username Version: gnome-system-tools 2.28-1-0ubuntu2 system-tools-backends 2.8.2-1 ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Changing "Main group" with users-admin GUI fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/472525 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
