#64 Tim Coffey, Just try the following: dig @<dns server that is broken> www.bingabongobango.com AAAA
That will take quite a long time to return. The problem is that when you install Karmic, you get IPv6, because of that, programs that are IPv6-capable will start asking for AAAA records As the DNS Server is broken it will not reply to the request. Thus it looks like things are slow. If the other PCs are using that DNS server, but not asking for AAAA records, then all will be fine and you won't notice the slowness indeed. -- [karmic regression] all network apps / browsers suffer from multi-second delays by default due to IPv6 DNS lookups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
