Binary package hint: usplash

I just updated to karmic, and one of my three machines wouldn't boot.
After seeing "starting up", the screen went blank, any nothing happened.

I finally switched to tty1, and saw a message mentioning something about
ioctl(VT_WAITACTIVE) . The text on this terminal was way too large
(looked like about 25x10 or so), but the machine did boot up.

This was completely reproducible every time, but only on this one
machine.

Unfortuntely, this was the laptop that my kids use to play on, so I
couldn't do too much debugging, but I did see that removing the usplash
package "fixed" it [and besides, I prefer watching the old fashioned
boot].

I suspect that this may be related:
