Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash
I just updated to karmic, and one of my three machines wouldn't boot. After seeing "starting up", the screen went blank, any nothing happened. I finally switched to tty1, and saw a message mentioning something about ioctl(VT_WAITACTIVE) . The text on this terminal was way too large (looked like about 25x10 or so), but the machine did boot up. This was completely reproducible every time, but only on this one machine. Unfortuntely, this was the laptop that my kids use to play on, so I couldn't do too much debugging, but I did see that removing the usplash package "fixed" it [and besides, I prefer watching the old fashioned boot]. I suspect that this may be related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/290197 ** Affects: usplash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- usplash [sometimes] hangs on ioctl(VT_WAITACTIVE) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
